OFSTED REPORT

The academy was last inspected in February 2025. Schools no longer receive an overall judgement. At the end of the inspection schools are now given a grade for each of the five areas of focus.

Our judgements are as follows:

Quality of Education Judgement: Good

Behaviour and Attitudes Judgement: Good

Personal Development Judgement: Outstanding

Leadership and Management: Good

Early Years: Good

We are extremely proud of this positive outcome which is a testament to the care and commitment of our staff, the support of our parents and carers, and of course, a celebration of our wonderful children.

At St Peter’s, visitors that spend time in our school, frequently leave with a strong impression of both the children’s and staff’s enthusiasm, happiness, supportiveness, and kindness. Our Ofsted report captured this:

St. Peter’s Primary is a school where pupils attend happily. Pupils arrive each day with smiles on their faces and receive a welcoming smile in return from caring adults. Staff place warm and positive relationships with pupils at the heart of all they do. Children settle very quickly into school life when they start in Reception. They quickly learn to trust the adults and each other. Strong relationships help pupils feel safe in school.

We are particularly pleased with the outstanding grade we have received for personal development and the recognition of this work in our report:

‘The way the school develops pupils’ character is exemplary. Pupils are beautifully respectful of one another. An ethos of care and compassion permeates everything that pupils say and do. It helps the school be the inclusive and welcoming place it is.’

We are so proud of our children at St Peter’s CofE Primary Academy and in particular their behaviour which is reflected in the report:

‘Pupils behave beautifully. They are routinely polite and well-mannered. Pupils recognise the value of supporting each other. Older pupils support the younger children intuitively. The school is a calm and purposeful learning environment.’

The report also acknowledged that staff who teach and support our children are skilled and have high expectations:

‘Staff interact expertly with children to help promote curiosity and enhance their learning. Pupils across the school engage well with learning.’

‘Pupils take pride in their work. Books are presented to a high standard. The school expects all pupils to listen well and be ready to contribute to lessons.’

SIAMS REPORT

SIAMS inspection focuses on the impact of the Church school's Christian vision on pupils and adults. This involves looking at the school’s Christian vision, the provision the school makes because of this vision and how effective this provision is in enabling all pupils to flourish. Church schools will employ a variety of strategies and styles appropriate to, and reflective of, their particular context in order to be distinctively and effectively Christian in their character and ethos. SIAMS inspectors therefore do not look for a set template of what a Church school should be like, but rather take the particular context of the school into account and base their evaluation on the outcomes rather than the process.

Inspectors make one of two judgements:

The inspection findings indicate that the school is living up to its foundation as a Church school, and is enabling pupils and adults to flourish.

Or

The inspection findings indicate that the school has strengths, but that there are also issues that leaders need to address as a matter of priority.

We are delighted to be able to confirm that we have been judged to be successfully living up to our foundations as a church school, enabling pupils and adults to flourish. The report clearly demonstrates the wonderful culture and family ethos that we have established at the Academy and we are incredibly proud of our staff and students for achieving such glowing feedback. Some highlights from the report include the acknowledgement of the ‘deeply caring atmosphere at St Peters’ and that ‘kindness radiates throughout the school.’ The report also states that 'Belonging to a caring community is at the heart of the school. The nurturing and supportive environment enables pupils and adults to thrive.’
